Fees
Volunteers generously contribute their time and skills and pay a reasonable fee to help cover the costs of providing business development services to small woman-owned enterprises in Ghana. The Volunteer Program Fee covers the following items:
  • Pre-departure support
  • Orientation Packet
  • Lodging in Ghana
  • In-country volunteer support
  • Project-related expenses
One goal of Women in Progress is to keep our volunteer program affordable so that more volunteers are able to take advantage of this great experience and help a greater number of women entrepreneurs in Ghana. To keep the overall cost down, volunteers are responsible for obtaining various items before departure. Women in Progress will provide assistance as needed to help the volunteer in obtaining the following items
  • Travel medical insurance (including emergency evacuation coverage)
  • Visa to Ghana
  • Required vaccinations
  • Airline ticket
In an effort to keep the volunteer program flexible enough to cover the needs and wants of all types of participants, volunteers are responsible for covering the cost of food and in-country ground transportation during their stay. Depending on one’s level of required comfort, food and transport can be either pennies a day, or dollars a day. That is up to the volunteer to decide.

To help in Planning Your Budget we have provided some price estimates of what to expect to pay for various items once you have arrived in Ghana.

             All Program Fees and cost of airfare are
                  tax-deductible for U.S. taxpayers.

Program Fees
Volunteer service can range from 2 weeks to 4 months. Program Fees vary based on the length of the volunteer assignment.

A non-refundable deposit of $100 will initiate the placement process. The remainder of the Program Fee is due 60 days prior to the internship start date.

U.S. Residents: Payment can be made via personal check, electronic bank transfer, or other online payment method.

Non-US Residents: All fees must be paid in US dollars via wire transfers electronic bank transfer or other online payment method.

Interested in volunteering, but need help in raising funds? Fundraising can be a great way to raise enough money to cover the Program Fee. Women in Progress has created a Fundraising Kit to assist you in this endeavor.

Departure Dates
Women in Progress volunteer programs operate year round in Ghana. Volunteers arrive monthly in Accra and go through the in-country orientation with other incoming volunteers.
